Keith has a PhD in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007 and has done postdocs at The University of California at San Diego, and Tufts University. Throughout his career, he has developed machine learning approaches to address specific problems, usually in biological domains, such as discovering binding sites in DNA sequences, classifying and ranking unstructured biomedical text, and identifying anomalies in human gene expression data. His work has resulted in the publication of several papers and available software.At Ancestry, Keith played a major role developing the machine learning approaches behind the AncestryDNA product and has written the advanced software used to carry out those analyses, including AncestryDNA's population assignment approach ARCHes (https://bmcbioinformatics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12859-021-04350-x), and AncestryDNA's genome-wide phasing IBDphase (https://bmcbioinformatics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12859-022-05066-2). He is currently Principal Scientist.
