Borderless campaigns for early awareness on global higher educational opportunities for Kenyan students with good academic performance and voracious appetites for self improvement and the development of their communities. Our program aims to improve US college application awareness among high school students from poor backgrounds and who depend on the Higher Education Loans Board for tuition and fees, a source of funding that is not guaranteed.A college education has become the greatest instrument of social mobility available to a young woman or man seeking opportunities beyond their country's borders because opportunities are few and far between. These are students who qualify for scholarships abroad, and if given the opportunity would develop the relevant skills to change their community's situation back home. But due to a lack of awareness and guidance from counselors through the complicated application process, they are locked out of these opportunities. I look to structure and facilitate the application process because I believe that students’ academic aspirations should not be limited by the boundaries of their country. Every year I host three workshops to equip students with information on the US education system and train them on various aspects of the application process to give them an opportunity to start early. This program improves the students’ writing and quantitative skills, while engaging with them on their academic futures as they wait for university selection from the Commission of University Education. Throughout this three month-long project I provide these students with intensive seminars focused on their writing skills, SAT readiness, and personal statement documents.

I was part of a group of 3 black students who went to South Africa to conduct an anthropological study of the lifestyles of middle class black families in Johannesburg post apartheid.

During the summer of 2015 I interned with Buffalo Promise Neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. At BPN, I had the responsibility of conducting social media research to explore current trends adopted by NGOs in their efforts to reach out to their target groups i.e. teenage mothers and other vulnerable youth groups from the sprawling under-served black communities in Buffalo. I was part of a team that developed a mix-and-match algorithm that will be used to link target groups with mentors in their areas of interest, be it in academia, sports, business, etc. This will help improve the intractability of the website between the end user and the organization. It will also serve to build lasting connections between the youth and highly motivated professional partners of the organization who will counsel them through the entire journey of pursuing their dreams

• Tutoring Equity Group Foundation (EGF) scholars on the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, and the TOEFL/IELTS• Administering mock SAT tests and grading them; addressing each student’s weak points; helping them figure out ways of tackling their weak areas. • Creating comprehensive student profiles in collaboration with EGF managers and partner schools and programs.• Using the student profiles to match them with colleges where they are most likely to gain admission and do well in.
