Responsibility to manage the Novel Solutions projects/contracts through the full life-cycle. Projects were developed into a sustainable business and run entirely within the project environment under a stand-alone Business Unit due to Government imposed security classifications. Positioned e2v as a trusted counter terrorism partner for UK Government and invited coalition partners, translating UOR (Urgent Operational Requirement) business through production to annual support contracts. Leader of a small, dedicated team with control over all aspects of the business. This included the running of the manufacturing line, development and business roadmap, all within the project environment. Business developed over a three-year period with value attaining £23M per annum. • Secured direct and trusted relationships within the MOD and coalition partners.• Gained trust with DSTL (Defence Scientific and Technology Laboratory), which led them to sub-contract their Counter Improvised Explosive Device technical equipment trials to e2v technologies.• Business Unit acted as counter-terrorism consultant/advisor to the UK MOD. • Novel Solutions diversify into commercial market space with equipment to stop vehicle engines remotely with radio waves from a range up to 200m.

Responsibility for the delivery of successful customer funded R&D and Special Production contracts.• Set-up production and procurement to react to urgent Customer orders, utilising lean manufacture to ensure fastest possible ramp to production and maximum quantity throughput. Achieved five fold increase in standard production rates within 4 weeks and completed initial order within 80% of the agreed timescale.• Liase with customers and their integrators to ensure that technical direction, adherence to programme and integration to new platforms is in line with expectations.• Excellent performance resulted in customer expanding the product to multiple platforms. • Supply successes with many follow-on orders.

Responsibility for the ‘Fire Business’ product range, including Thermal Imaging Cameras and Accountability Systems for the fire-fighting services.• Pulled together a successful bid for a major contract to serve the UK market, which depended upon extremely keen prices and a large manufacturing volume for Thermal Imaging Cameras. Initial contract value circa £5M.• Instigated ‘lean’ manufacturing ethos. Resulted in 47% reduction in manufacturing time and a five fold increase in manufacturing throughput within a two-month period.• Prime influence in obtaining a large development and supply contract for fire-fighter’s accountability systems, valued at £8M over a five-year period.
