I was employed initially as an Electronics Technician performing test and repairs to various electronic equipment. Examples include, two- way radios, rural telephones, broadcast transmitters, PABX systems, etc.Approximately, two years later, I was promoted to the position of Technical Supervisor.Two years later, I was promoted to the position of Production Manager. In this capacity I was in charge of various manufacturing departments which included;• Rural Telephones• Broadcasting• Minehoist• MRA - 7 - distance measuring equipment• Two-way radio equipmentImportant aspects of my work included:• Health and Safety and Housekeeping• Master Production Scheduling• Motivating and developing subordinates as well as addressing IR issues• Designing effective production processes• Devising, in collaboration with production engineering, ergonomically laid out facilities• Ensuring timeous procurement of materials• Planning and controlling all production activities• Setting monthly, weekly and daily targets in a participative manner• Effective interaction with both internal as well as external customers etc.In 1996, after transfer to Gauteng, I was appointed Manager in charge of Community Development, SMME Development and Black Economic Empowerment working very closely with Telkom SA on its vision 2000 Program. This was a national responsibility.In 1998 I was promoted to the position Senior Account Manager responsible for managing the entire Telkom SA account. Left to assume position of General Manager with Tellumat.
