After graduating from the University of Houston, I applied my journalism degree to a career in television broadcasting at KRIV Fox 26, an affiliate of the Fox Broadcasting Company. I initially served as an editor before transitioning into various other roles, including: Assistant Producer, Producer, Morning Supervising Producer, Executive Producer and eventually Managing Editor. Throughout my myriad of roles in the newsroom, I gleaned critical skills for overseeing the daily efficiency of a high-performance, active operation; my responsibilities included managing station personnel, making integral editorial decisions that aligned with the station’s overall tone, planning budgets, and supervising coverage for major events like the Super Bowl, presidential elections, and the September 11 terrorist attacks. With an emphasis on sports reporting, I also played an essential role in developing a comprehensive sports program for televised broadcasting.
