Roads and Bridge work, as well as plats in support of the Survey Crews and GIS support across many projects. I had never worked in MicroStation or GEOPAK software prior to working at Cook Coggin Engineers. I was able to quickly get up and running with the software, and was able to utilize functions not used effectively at this company. I am able to quickly assimilate to new software and consider this to be one of my most valuable assets.

I solved warranty problems by designing new parts and construction techniques. I was responsible for setting up a link to the Chicago office’s network computer to access drawing files and other vital information. I also helped in the start-up phase of Groen’s new Mississippi engineering section, installing AutoCAD Release 14 and maintaining their computers.

As Head Senior Civil Designer, I worked directly with the Army Corps of Engineers in the design of revetments and floodwalls along the Red and Mississippi Rivers. I was responsible for collecting work from the Corps and distributing it among the drafting personnel. I also trained drafting personnel and coordinated interaction with the survey parties. We drafted boundary and hydrographic surveys, plan, profile, section and record maps.

I worked for the city administration under my father’s supervision (County & City Engineer) to update city maps, draft water systems maps and street maps.

I literally grew up in this civil consulting firm owned by my father, Wayne S. Posey. I was 13 years of age on 02/15/69. I worked as a draftsman, surveyor and inspector full time during the summers and after school during the rest of the year. I gained valuable experience from my father, who gave me a common sense approach to my career and taught me the value of a good work ethic.
