To carry out neighbourhood patrols to identify problems affecting the quality of life of residents such as crime and anti-social behaviour, dog fouling, litter, fly-tipping and offensive accumulations, graffiti and abandoned vehicles. I help resolve such problems by direct action, mediation, reporting incidents and arranging remedial work and by issuing spot fines.To help alleviate the effects of such incidents by talking to the victims of crimes and anti social behaviour and those in fear, and people reporting incidents to and giving advice on actions being taken.To provide direct intervention to were necessary action such as by removing graffiti, used needles in public places, meditating in disputes and incidents of anti social behaviour. To gather evidence regarding offences such as fly tipping, vandalism and anti social behaviour. I prepare statements and act as a witness in court as required.To issue spot fines for witnessed offences, such as dog fouling, littering and graffiti.To attend neighbourhood meetings such as residents associations and give reports to promote the scheme. Whilst being a Neighbourhood Warden I was seconded for seven months to pilot a new scheme using legal powers never used before. My title was an Environmental Enforcement Officer. My duties were to serve legal notices on private landowners to ensure that absent landlords still kept their properties clean and tidy. If the landowners did not abide then I issue a fixed penalty notice and prepare a case file to take the landowner to court. This new role soon enabled really bad areas to be cleaned up in a short time. The pilot scheme was a massive success and all Neighbourhood Wardens now use these new skills as part of their day-to-day roles, which has greatly enhanced the local area.
