Working in a startup environment means your responsibilities are not limited by your job description. This has giving me opportunities in many aspects of engineering including design, quality, reliability, process improvement and management.I have been assigned system owner of the quality automation equipment. This automation equipment is responsible for inspecting 100 percent of the battery cans sold to Panasonic. This includes coordinating the efforts of the vision inspection technicians and machine contractors to ensure a smooth install. After install, I am responsible for optimizing the quality inspection process, I use feedback from Panasonic’s quality department to adjust both vision inspection and electromagnetic test parameters to reduce false reject rates and ensuring all battery cans are inspected properly.I use CAD software to design and implement projects aimed at improving the efficiency of the line. This includes designing a crane system to replace heavier components in our quality unit, a platform for easier access to the second level of the automation equipment as well as fixture design.I am responsible for updating our line layouts in CAD. This ensures that not only does everything in our area of the plant have a place but that we have all the utilities that we need in the correct location.
