Manufacturing Supervisor

Reporting to the Metals Manufacturing Manager, responsible for supervision of multiple departments, including Welding, Shearing, Components, Forming and Fabricating on production of $3 - 5 million per month, as well as $1 – 3 million of inventory in the metals warehouse. Supervised an organization of up to 30 people across the departments.• Repeatedly requested by Management to participate on various tiger teams formed to investigate and solve technical/systemic issues within the manufacturing process.• Reengineered the process flow of product in and out of the metals warehouse, resulting in an optimized warehouse layout, greater efficiency in product movement, and a dramatic improvement in inventory accountability as verified by the annual audit.• Executed change in storage of aluminum to meet FAA requirements, when indoor storage was no longer available.• Collaborated with other manufacturing departments to ensure adequate lead times for completion of finished product for on-time delivery.• Pioneered the use of aqueous parts cleaners within certain departments, rather than utilizing the one centralized function, significantly reducing down time caused by timing of centralized clean room availability.• Partnering with other supervisors at the company, designed and executed a program based upon an intense focus on consistent safety awareness and education, resulting in 75% reduction in accidents in my department.• Created a clearly defined process used for picking of metal materials, quality control buy-offs and precision shearing of aircraft materials which when documented, became the official procedure manual and training tool for the department.• Participated in developing welding and forming processes for materials required for the space shuttle and external tank programs, thus contributing to one of the most successful space programs the United States has ever had.
