Serve as an expert strategist and project coordinator on critical activities associated with implementing and executing Strategic Communications initiatives and activities, chiefly for the agency’s Grants Program Directorate and National Continuity Programs portfolios. Duties included developing responses to a heavy volume of daily media inquiries; researching and writing high-level briefing memos on a variety of sometimes highly-technical projects; and writing speeches for the Mayor and top DDOT leadership. Managed a communications specialist and a visual communications specialist, representing the office in high-level agency meetings.

Managed communications for the city's forensic sciences agency. Crafted and implemented communications plan for DFS after synthesizing the facts on issues and policies. Worked with local, national and international reporters on earned media. Wrote news releases, testimony, talking points and correspondence for DFS Director. Managed digital presence for DFS, responsible for its Facebook page and website, including developing content and posting daily updates. Increased "Likes"​ and Total Reach on agency's Facebook page by more than 800 percent in 18 months.

Oversaw communications for Deputy Mayor Paul Quander, who directed more than a dozen city agencies and boards. Developed communications plans for ODMPSJ. Responded to major public safety emergencies in real-time, distributing information to news media and public. Co-directed the city's communications for the Navy Yard mass shooting on Sept. 16, 2013. Worked with high-profile agency heads to develop crisis communications plans to overcome negative media coverage. Managed ODMPSJ's digital presence, including establishing Twitter account and growing it to more than 1,000 followers in 18 months.

Oversaw local news coverage of Washington, DC for the daily newspaper and its website. Assigned work for a team of six reporters, one photographer and one videographer. Planned all aspects of print and digital content, working closely with multiple departments. Edited all work from daily stories to major project pieces. Supervised, trained and motivated a team of six full-time reporters and two interns, handling HR/personnel issues. Directed a weekly crime page feature, "Most Wanted," which was credited with the capture or surrender of 52 fugitives -- including murderers, rapists and child molesters -- and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.

As sole overnight supervisor for the West Coast, managed high-volume news coverage of 13 states for the world's largest news service, including print, radio and television products. Directed reporters, photographers and videographers in multiple offices/locations for multimedia platforms. Coordinated news budgets and story coverage with editors at New York headquarters and other bureaus. Reported and wrote news stories.
