This is the central provider for all mainframe and large midrange infrastructure services on which a number of JPMC’s critical core banking applications run. ECS is geographically split with two main computing hubs – one serving the EMEA region and one serving the Americas. Each hub provides backup and resiliency for each other, with ECS providing a truly global service. Business applications include global financial messaging; retail, private and investment banking; asset and wealth management; treasury and security services; and custody management.My primary responsibilities lay in providing Adabas and DB2 infrastructure engineering and application database administration services. As a member of a team of seven DBAs, I was the lead DB2 DBA and a senior Adabas DBA.The nature of the work included daily administration and maintenance work; internally driven infrastructure projects, (upgrades, maintenance, technology exploitation and new product installs); line-of-business driven projects in which the team provided design and implementation consultancy for the Natural and Cobol applications); and general line-of-business aligned application development team support. Some recent major initiatives and projects:: Implemented recent releases of WBIFN (IBM’s interface to the Swift messaging system), in response to the Swift statement of requirements, into DB2. Implemented Sterling’s EDI Vector Connexion V3R0 into DB2. DB2 v7 to v8 upgrades, including implementing NFM Adabas v7 to v8 upgrades Application re-analysis for the adoption of different data feeds and volumes. Adabas/Natural housekeeping reviews, producing reductions in run times and costs for the LOBs.
