I have a passion for helping people recover from hopeless circumstances, feel I have a gift for reaching people where they are at, and helping them get to a place in life they are trying to achieve.I have been working as Vice-President and Housing Director for Building Men for Life, Inc. a non-profit recovery housing program in Holland Michigan for the last 16 years. I joined this group in the first few months after it started up and have enjoyed being a part of its growth. Today we are housing 100 men in 17 locations. I am a certified recovery coach and use my skills every day with the men in our homes. My duties include intake screening, needs assessments, placement, and program termination. I recently started a Recovery Community Center (RCC) called SOBAR. We provide recovery support services, a safe place for group activities, a spot for staff trainings with a large goal of reducing stigma. I started a podcast called "Not The Normies" that is much like a recovery meeting that we share our experience strength and hope to try and reach the rural population in recovery that cannot access services.In the past, I had a contract with the State of Michigan to facilitate the MRT cognitive behavior program for re-entering offenders from prison. The most enjoyable day for me is when a hundred things to do come at me all at once. My understanding of my limitations allows me to delegate work to others and achieve any goal placed in front of me. I work well with others and enjoy challenging situations.I was born and raised on the family farm Walters Gardens and have grown many fine perennials growing up.
