About Keith A. Kleinick

Throughout my life volunteering was an important part. My mother Roberta Kleinick considered herself a professional volunteer giving her full time to NCJW in many different capacities. It was through my mother's work that I learned the gift of giving of my time to different causes. Some of my most rewarding experiences volunteering have been with children. Spirituality For Kids was a program where I joined teachers in classrooms at inner city school once a week in Brownsville Brooklyn. in the classroom we would teach 3rd and 4th graders how to handle conflict by using their words. One of my most memorable moments was when a young girl handed me a note that said I was her friend and from this friendship she has learned to use her words to create a better atmosphere at home. It was though this program I started to learn communication skills myself that were similar to those I learned in the Co+Active Coaching training. Besides SFK, I volunteered at a program at the Kings County Supreme Courthouse. The program was a clinic for uncontested divorce and Special Proceeding dealing with housing. Here my skills as an attorney and dealing with the court system and fikking out of legal documents came in handy. It was amazing how many people came in wanting an uncontested divorce from spouses they had not seen in years and had no way of contacting. Coaching and assisting litigants on working through legal issues and explaining what they needed to do was at times challenging. Upon moving to Florida in 2017 I sought out other volunteering opportunities. This journey has brought me my present positions as a GAL with foster children, working with autistic adults and being a mentor to a child. At this time my journey is to volunteer and assist others. Though this I know I have made a difference in countless lives. And at the same time feed my soul. Professional Life: Graduated Brooklyn Law School in 1989. Worked at top plaintiff's personal injury law firm Schneider Kleinick & Weitz from 1989 to 1995 when the form merged with Phil M Damashek to create Schneider Kleinick Weitz & Damashek. in 1999, Johnnie Cochran joined the firm in a special arrangement for the referral of cases through joint advertising. In 2001 was a founding partner in Weitz Kleinick & Weitz. After leaving the practice of law I joined a structure settlement company assisting plaintiff attorneys by introducing their clients to structured settlements Photography: more to come in thissee my website www.keithkleinick.com

Guardian

Current

As a Guardian Ad Litem in the Florida 15th Judicial District's Guardian Ad Litem program i have been assigned to children that are placed into the Florida foster care system. As a GAL, I follow up on tje chold's care and see that their needs are being taken care of. Part of my responsibilities are to file reports with the Court and testify as to the conditions of the child's care and attempt to let the Court know what the child requests. The Best Needs of the Child is out main concern. While the requirement is to see the child once in 30 days, i basically try and see or talk to them a few times a month. My volunteering provides assistance to tje Case Managers and Social Workers who are overwhelmed in meeting their requirements in following so many cases. The case worlers are definitely have an overwhelming case load. Hopefully the child can be replaced back with family. If not, then hopefully the system can find a suitable placement. Unfortunately, many children have issues from yrauma and are never placed outside the system. From this experience, i am working directly with the system in helping children in foster care. The foster care system is broken and needs a lot to work better.Case workers are overwhelmed and services are difficult to arrange timely. Being in the system has given me first hand knowledge of issues and seeing what the problems are. There are no easy fixes. I have no idea what they would be. In the meantime, i am fighting for a few children to see they get the care they need.
