I have been told many times that I am not a typical IT person. My ability to explain technology in a non-techy way helps bridge the gap between people and technology. When meeting with a person or group of people to learn about their technology needs I am careful to listen, observe, and ask questions to really understand their needs and dig deeper into what they are trying to accomplish. I want to make sure that the solution will fit not only today but their strategy going forward.PEOPLE DON'T FEAR CHANGE, THEY FEAR LOSING WHAT THEY HAD.Finally when delivering anything, I understand that it is not a solution unless it is really understood and accepted by those who are going to use it or be effected by it. This is an area I take great joy in. Getting people on board with a solution should not start at this step. It needs to start as a part of information gathering. This way people feel that they are heard and they have a chance to give input as to what is important to them, so they don't lose things they have, and will gain things they really do want and need.
