I am an architect with about 12 years experience in the industry. I studied architecture at Lawrence Technological University and received a Master of Architecture with a specialized concentration in Sustainability. I’m looking to focus my career path more toward design and sustainability where my true talents lie. I have also reached a point in my career where I very strongly value a positive, healthy, supportive work environment. I’m looking to work for a firm that first and foremost values their employees and their mental health, and encourages success, growth, independence, and ambition, while also having strong, positive leadership. I am familiar with sustainable design standards such as LEED, Well Building Institute, Living Building Challenge, Passive House, and Biophilic Design, and plan to seek professional accreditation in several of these.I am also or alternatively seeking a career in Horticulture. I am a self-taught horticulture enthusiast with a collection of over 200 plants. I am highly knowledgable in propagation techniques and proper growing conditions for many genera of plants, specializing in cacti and succulents, and tropicals. I may not have the experience or education, but I have the knowledge and passion to be a talented and efficient grower of almost any plant type.In my past career experience, I was a project manager and lead drafter for an exterior wall cladding manufacturer for 4.5 years. I worked with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to see projects, large and small all over the US, from design through final manufacturing and installation. I was most recently working for an architecture firm with a strong focus on creating healing environments in healthcare, and a strong interest in biophilic design. There I was recognized for my strong talent in design, and ability to solve difficult design problems with simple, elegant, human scale solutions. In my current position as project manager for a contractor I’ve gotten valuable hands-on experience in construction that will greatly strengthen my work in design and construction documentation. I am looking to join an organization whose values and focus on creating and maintaining a sustainable future are much like my own. I believe that based on my education and practice I could provide innovative and fresh ideas on ways to improve on, and design for further efficiencies. I find great value in ensuring our buildings and built environments are as sustainable as possible for both the planet and our people.
