As a course-development TA, I designed and built a prototype lab experiment for undergraduate dynamics students. The goal was to provide a scale vehicle impact test rig that involves collisions with two vehicles, rigid walls, and a simulated "crumple zone" material. Students could utilize accelerometer and camera-based measurements to calculate the peak.

At Richard Lord's Boxing Gym I taught the form and fitness-oriented UT Informal Boxing Class. This class acts as an introduction to boxing that aims to cover all of the basic fundamentals. Our class was typically made up of 20+ UT affiliates and met three times a week for six weeks. My goal as a teacher is to inspire confidence in those taking a step.

At Sandia I was an intern in the Validation and Qualification Sciences Experimental Complex, specifically with the Energetic Environments organization. There, I assisted with the setup and qualification of firing and instrumentation for large scale impact tests.

Designed HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems for commercial, residential, and industrial building plans. Studied ASHRAE, IECC, and other relevant codes applicable to Texas. Coordinated with Austin Energy to comply with Green Building certification process.

Refined my customer service and communication skills as a cashier at a large retail department store.

I served as a teaching assistant for first-year engineering physics course. This involved assisting with lectures, holding office hours and review sessions, and proctoring exams. This position served to refine my teaching and speaking skills, as I learned to adapt to each student's unique approach to learning.

As a research assistant, I conducted experiments to determine the optical properties of algae biofilms at increasing thickness and density for the ultimate purpose of developing a novel multispectral image processing technique for noninvasive biomass quantification. Ultimately, this led to co-authoring two papers published in Biotechnology Progress:Murphy.
