HEAL is a unique, energy-based employee benefits program designed to improve quality of life, at both the corporate and homeowner levels, by reducing GHG emissions and improving energy performance in commercial and residential buildings. Greater New Orleans Area

Developed and implemented a unique, impact focused set of post-Katrina rapid rebuilding projects that paired skilled contractors with AmeriCorps NCCC teams and engaged volunteers. The projects were an attempt to provide models of recovery that could be faster and more nimble vectors capable of working alongside existing recovery models. By using limited duration, high intensity 100 day bursts the projects intended to create and leverage economies of scale. The final project, in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, renovated and optimized for energy efficiency 44 storm damaged homes in New Orleans' 8th and 9th ward, in 100 days. The homes were expected to cut their pre-Katrina utility expenses by nearly 50%, for which the project received the 2009 Affordable Housing Built Responsibly Honorable Mention from the Home Depot Foundation at USGBC GreenBuild 2008.
