I spent two years as the Head of Economic Research and a Senior-Staff Scientist at Uber, where I led a team of scientists focused on designing and refining Uber's marketplace algorithms. My team worked on modeling and estimating Uber's network effects and marketplace dynamics, with the aim of guiding pricing, growth, and driver-incentive decisions.I was also fortunate enough to be able to work directly on several really interesting projects. I designed the algorithm behind "Surge" pricing, helped develop and deploy the hexagonal global-grid system that is the basis of Uber's spatial architecture, and helped plan Uber's self-driving cars strategy.
