About Keith Curry Lance

Keith Curry Lance is a Consultant with the RSL Research Group, Creator and Author of the Star Library Ratings and the LJ Index of Public Library Service for Library Journal, and Principal Investigator for SLIDE: The School Librarian Investigation--Decline or Evolution? (SLIDE is a project of Antioch University Seattle funded by a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian research grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Services.) In 1987, he was the founding Director of the Library Research Service at the Colorado State Library. Since leavng that position in 2007, he has focused on consulting both independently and with the RSL Research Group.Best known in the school library community as the leader of the most prolific research team studying the impact of school librarians and library programs on academic achievement of students.Best known in the public library community as a longtime state and national leader in the development and use of public library statistics.Specialties: Library research & statistics - Impact assessment - Outcome-based evaluation - Statistical index design & testing - Available data mining & analysis - Survey design & analysis - Focus group interview design, facilitation & analysis
