Overall responsibility for the management of this unlisted public company including the establishment of the financial systems, integrating major Telco billing platform to general ledger, preparation of budgets, timely preparation of monthly reports to board, preparation of cash flow forecasts, oversight of external audit and lodgment of statutory returns. Including coaching and mentoring staff.Major achievements in this role:• Established and led an organisation that comprised a sales team, customer services, network engineering and finance. • Personally led the finance team in preparation of budgets monthly financial reporting and year end preparation of accounts• Fully managed accounts receivable function. Established robust credit control procedures including putting in place procedures for legal action and reporting to credit reference agencies• Hands on role for accounts receivable function ensuring timely receipt of cash into organisation including the preparation and lodgment of statements of claim with the local court and representation with Office of Fair Trading• Fully managed accounts payable function. • Oversaw the preparation of payroll tax, BAS, FBT and income tax returns• Developed and implemented a comprehensive range of policies and procedures for finance section as well as overseeing the development and implementation of the same for the network engineering, sales and customer service areas• Establishment of the company as an unlisted public company, Australia’s first carrier grade broadband wireless telecommunications network utilising cable over wireless technology• Moved the company to a full service carrier delivering a full suite of services including; fixed line voice, mobile and data services• Prepared successful tender proposals for the provision of telecommunications services to government (State and Federal)

Overall responsibility for the management and day to day operation of the organisation. Major achievements in this role:• Established the financial system for this organisation with monthly reporting to the board against budget• Prepared accounts for audit and oversaw the external audit of the accounts• Prepared acquittals of government contracts for audit prior to lodgment to contracting authority• Treasurer of Northern Rivers Regional Economic Development Organisation. Oversaw a budget including the acquittal of funds to government of in excess of $26mil• Established the Regional Chamber of Commerce Network within the Northern Rivers• Represented business community on a range of economic development boards• Developed a highly regarded eCommerce training program for small business. This program encouraged small businesses to develop clear business strategies as well as providing a solid coaching and mentoring program for those enterprises. • Developed a highly regarded financial management training program for small business• Played a major role in the development of the “regional brand” for the Northern Rivers• Played a major role in the development and implementation of a $4mil marketing plan for the Northern Rivers, focused on the tourism industry• Chair of Norlink Ltd and in this time secured $2mil in funding for the establishment of Australia’s first carrier grade wireless broadband telecommunications network

Established and operated this retail franchise for 10 years. My first small business experience. It was in this time it became clear that all businesses needed guidance and mentoring support. In this instance this was achieved through participation in the Chamber of Commerce Network. I was President of Ballina Chamber of Commerce for a period of 5 years.
