Gearworks grew to 16,000 customers and was sold to Xora in 2008.Gearworks offers mobile workforce management software for customers such as FTD, Pepsi, and Roto-Rooter. The core application, etrace, runs on GPS-enabled cellphones and provides a real-time view into the location of workers and the status of their activities.As founder and CEO, my role was to develop the product concept, validate it with early customers, manage the development of the core application, recruit and build an executive team, secure key partners, sell strategic enterprise customers, and raise equity financing from individual and venture capital investors to support the firm's growth.
