Since 2018, I have been operating as an independent consultant where I have supported a telecoms client in improving its processes and managing audit issues. As a consultant, I reviewed audit findings for the client, developed a strategy to mitigate issues raised, improved reconciliations and reporting processes, implemented new processes and developed comprehensive presentations for senior stakeholders / business leaders.Most notably, I successfully helped the client to resolve issues raised in their audit, I improved reporting processes to reduce time spent and I improved the integrity of data to support client decision making.

In my capacity as Assistant Controller, I led accounting operations for the organization including inventory accounting, US GAAP and IFRS reporting, accounts receivable / payable, treasury management and accounting research for special projects. I provided advice and recommendations to the Entity President regarding the application of purchase accounting rules in line with US GAAP standards and researched accounting / technical issues to enhance performance. A key part of my role involved implementing new processes, managing global transfer pricing policies and testing transactions, researching debt to equity swaps and delivering special projects.During this period, I worked closely with the Director of Marketing and VP of Sales to define and develop a robust forecasting model for sales, and I delivered a significant reduction in spends by developing monthly actual to budget analysis by cost center and engaging with Cost Center Managers, VP of Quality and VP of Sales. Most notably, I reduced audit time to 2 weeks with all audits being clean with only minor suggestions for improvements which resulted in a reduction in audit fees of $190k and played a key role in developing an expansion scenario in collaboration with a cross-functional team to implement an expansion and obtained tax incentives of $1m for the expansion. Other achievements include: implementing reserve calculation of SKU level to identify obsolete inventory which was valued at 20% of overall inventory value; implementing automated financial reporting models to support the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages resulting in a 25% reduction in time; reducing closing time by 20% by developing improved financial close processes and schedules to enable use of foreign currencies within the ERP systems; and achieving certified ISO 9001:2015 auditor certification.

I was hired by KPMG as Audit Senior to work with clients across multiple sectors including manufacturing, pharmaceutical, private equity, property management and financial services to review and audit financial records. I was accountable for planning engagements, preparing workload budgets, delegating assignments and supervising staff.

Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina Area

As Consultant, I provided financial and accounting support including daily accounting, financial reporting and internal control documentation to a Private Equity held company. This involved researching and investigating technical issues to ensure consistent performance, while also working with external auditors during audits. Most notably, I automated reporting processes to reduce reporting time by 40% and was instrumental in reducing audit time by 3 weeks from previous year through working with external auditors.
