The ASME IGTI ORC Power Systems Committee is an official ASME group that promotes the interdisciplinary knowledge exchange between dedicated international professionals from academia, industry, governmental agencies and policy makers. The aim is to advance the research, development and implementation of organic Rankine cycle (ORC) technology by means of providing relevant technical and scientific information, organizing technical conferences and workshops, fostering engineering education, and advising on proper regulation. The charter of the Standards and Regulations Workgroup is to establish and harmonize world-wide codes, standards and regulations concerning ORC components, subsystems and systems.

Responsible for directing a range of activities related to Joule's development of processes that are efficient, eco-friendly, and commercially-viable for the production of photosynthetically-derived hydrocarbon fuels. A primary focus is on plant design, including unit operation design and mass and energy balance modeling. An additional primary focus is on instrumentation and controls development for practical, cost-effective pilot- and commercial-scale plant operation.In charge of a team that evaluates plant and equipment process configurations appropriate for various specific products and plant sites, providing recommendations on component design, subsystem selection and process operation. Group also characterizes and quantifies existing systems and processes, and designs application-specific unit operations and equipment. Steer the development of standard engineering documentation (PFDs and P&IDs), and oversee the development of mass and energy balances and financial modeling. Employ a hands-on, practical approach to chemical engineering problem solving, as well as the ability to function as both an individual contributor and a team director.

Brought on-board to spearhead Concepts NREC's singular new organic Rankine cycle (ORC) energy recovery system as a "startup within a company." Charged with expanding their high-efficiency heat-to-electricity product portfolio and business on a global scale. Had overall responsibility for sales, design, and production of their initial Rankine cycle energy recovery product, as well as future derivatives and other waste heat-to-power turbines and systems. Worked closely with Engineering, Contracting, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to achieve revenue and profitability goals.- Concepts NREC: 50 year's deep industry experience across the turbomachinery value chain; providing unparalleled engineering design and development services, best-in-class CAE/CAM software, and manufacturing.- Initial product: CN300, an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system sized at a nominal 300 kWe, using an unparalleled, patent-pending turbine internal and mechanical design.- Future products: organic Rankine cycle (ORC) and Kalina cycle systems sized up to the megawatt range.

I supervised and assisted in (1) developing a high-fidelity forward-facing MATLAB/Simulink model of a hydrogen fuel cell power generation system for a 2-week air mission to 70,000 feet, (2) using that model to optimize 11 independent variables to determine the minimum system weight for the notional mission, (3) conducting a sensitivity analysis of the optimum baseline model and (4) preparing, releasing and supporting installation issues with the fuel cell modeling package for NASA and the US Air Force.• Drove technology cost reductions through identifying operational efficiencies in manufacturing, advanced engineering solutions, value engineering and other cost reduction efforts.• Recognized by colleagues as a ‘go-to’ person to solve challenging issues, including modeling, design, metallurgical, electrochemical, and chemical/corrosion challenges.• Considered a technology and policy ‘thought leader’ amongst colleagues.
