Am responsible for building, and maintaining relationships, with Scottish SMEs who wish to develop innovative ideas in the sporting/fitness/wellbeing markets. I travel across Scotland to facilitate meetings between SMEs and University academics. I provide advice on various aspects of business support - funding streams, Intellectual Property protection and product development among them.

Was responsible for seeking out new ideas from NHS personnel and for evaluating the manufacturing, legal and marketing feasibility of them. Also responsible for raising awareness of SHIL. This involved business networking, manning exhibition stands, producing and distributing publicity materials, public speaking and presenting. In this role, I brought in 174 new projects, from 8 Scottish Health Boards, and helped to take 3 NHS projects to market.

Was responsible for project managing ideas from NHS employees, by initially evaluating the ideas and then channelling them for either commercialisation, or else dissemination to a wider audience. I was responsible for building up and managing relationships with NHS personnel and this involved extensive people interaction, knowledge of IP and how to protect it, market research, database maintenance, budgetary management, planning and presenting at project update meetings and licence agreement negotiations.

's company-wide redundancies, I took a short-term position while searching for a position more suited to my skills. Here, I was responsible for matching jobs sourced from clients with an internal company candidate list. Job involved client meetings, candidate interviews and key account management. I was also responsible for project management of the Medical Device Scotland Source Book 2003, in collaboration with MDIS (Medical Devices In Scotland).

The company was an ISO 9001 Medical Device Manufacturer and worked to GLP. I was responsible for method and process development. As a senior member of the Manufacturing and Process Development (MPD) team, I was responsible for helping to set up the polymer characterisation laboratory. Wrote and issued several SOPs. Performed analytical chemistry work and contributed to the development of design aspects and technology/design transfer following the writing of process capability reports. Organised and gave operator training. I also organised and chaired several MPD team meetings and line-managed and mentored 1 Laboratory Technician.

Invited, by the company Q.A. Director, to fill a Quality Engineer vacancy. Responsible for Process and Test Method validation for the Ethicon Needle Manufacturing Plant at Crossways, Edinburgh. All validation work was carried out in accordance with Johnson & Johnson's 12 step Q.S.R. process in order to keep the processes FDA compliant. Was responsible for ensuring that work was carried out to meet both quality regulations and timeline expectations.

Techniques used included gas chromatography, FT- IR, UV/Vis. spectrophotometry and EtO sterilisation dose mapping studies. Also undertook factory boiler water sampling and analysis. Line-managed and mentored 3 junior members of staff. Wrote reports and trended data.

Identified a range of potential alternative natural based raw materials to replace the existing components within the plant's established production process in order to improve the porosity of the pelletised products.

Responsible to the Laboratory Control Chemist for performing necessary chemical analysis of carbon samples from the production line in order to ensure they met customer specification and the company's quality standards. Responsible for undertaking new ranges of tests to meet new market conditions including the provision of E.L.C.D. canisters to reduce automobile fuel emissions in accordance with incoming international regulations - this involved undertaking additional analysis to meet the specific requirements of individual manufacturers, to whom the results were sent.Provided first-line advisory assistance to junior laboratory staff and encouraged them in their training for professional qualifications.
