As the Founder and Executive Director of Helen's Daughters, I have been at the forefront of redefining the role of rural women in agriculture within the Caribbean. My leadership has secured international visibility for the organization, with features on global platforms such as BBC, National Geographic, and Forbes, highlighting our innovative approach to women’s empowerment in agriculture.I have spearheaded the development of key initiatives like Ag-cademy and Life Academy, which form part of our comprehensive suite of educational and capacity-building programs designed to elevate the economic and social status of rural women. These programs focus on climate-smart agriculture, sustainable agribusiness, and providing critical market access to marginalized female farmers. My role involves not only strategic leadership and program development but also extensive fundraising efforts, where I have successfully secured resources that have enabled us to expand our impact across St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Kitts & Nevis. I also lead advocacy efforts that have positioned rural women as essential contributors to sustainable development, recognized by my appointment as the first-ever Afro-Caribbean Goodwill Ambassador for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).Additionally, I have guided Helen's Daughters towards becoming a social enterprise, an uncommon but crucial transformation in the Caribbean context. This shift has allowed us to create sustainable income streams for women through initiatives such as our agri-tourism network and FarmHers Markets, which have both increased public awareness and provided direct economic benefits to our beneficiaries.Throughout my career, I have been honored with numerous accolades, including being named an Ashoka and Echoing Green Fellow and receiving the Queen’s MBE for humanitarian services.
