I sold original paintings and taught watercolour painting both in the studio and on location and had many students attend from as far away as Canada, USA, and Europe. Being a guide to the many people who passed through the studio on their way to learning to paint in watercolour was both a privilege and great fun.It did however teach me the art of running a business, everything from the world of spreadsheets, P&L and forecasting to dealing with customers and suppliers. This really was a baptism of fire.
