Identification of new and existing technologies and pathways to progress the transition to low carbon gas (Hydrogen, biomethane), to support delivery of the UK government’s NetZero targets through to 2050. I lead the NGN Innovation team to develop new technologies and solutions that align to delivery of Net Zero and consumer vulnerability, alongside the development of our InTEGReL research facility which aims to discover whole system solutions to decarbonisation. Within the innovation and research scope is consideration of future digital, hydrogen, transport needs and how we evolve the strategies and pathways to net zero.I chair the institution of Gas Engineers and Managers Hydrogen Committee which aims to evolve existing gas network standards to support the conveyance of hydrogen.I'm actively involved with a range of academia and a board member of the North East Energy Catalyst, a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for both the Supergen Network and HiAct. I represent Northern Gas Networks on the national working groups to identify the routes to convert the existing UK gas supply network to convey hydrogen and as such am responsible for the development and delivery of a long term hydrogen for heat strategy, providing support where required to DESNZ, considering the future low carbon energy challenge for heat. From a Whole Energy Systems perspective I lead the InTEGReL research centre, a partnership with Newcastle University, Northern Powergrid, Northumbrian Water, which seeks to develop a world class energy research centre in Gateshead, which focuses on low carbon whole systems solutions to the energy trilemma.Specialties: Hydrogen Strategy and Research (relating to heat), Whole Energy Systems strategies, Innovation development, Control Centre Management, SCADA system development
