I worked as a senior-level City Planner for Chicago Department of Transportation, retiring after a 33 year career (maxing out retirement benefits). I am open to part time, contract or volunteer opportunities - and will consider full-time options after a "gap year" to attend to family business.In my government career at CDOT, I specialized in grant applications and administration as well as managing project feasibility and scoping assessments. I am proud to have "run the first leg of the relay race" on the Washington/Wabash station, Loop Link bus lanes, the 606/Bloomingdale Trail, Major Taylor Trail, Lakefront Trail access bridges, Divvy bike sharing and numerous other transit, bike, pedestrian, and ITS projects.In my non-career work, I have worked in arts administration, guiding two small-budget arts non-profits through their IRS 501(c)3 certifications as board member and volunteer staff.I see editing and re-writing as a common skill across by career, and after-work, and even in-school effort efforts. At CDOT, I shaping information from architects and engineers into successful transportation capital grant applications and rigorously copy-edited consultant research studies and master plan reports for tone and clarity as their client's projects manager. At Salsation, I guided young comedians through rewrites while directing critically-acclaimed sketch comedy revues. At U of C, I edited the Chicago Maroon student newspaper Op-Ed page and Summer editions, and an a guide book issued to all incoming students. Even now I revise Wikipedia and Google Maps entries when I see the need - I guess it's a habit.
