Hiring a financial advisor is an important decision. It’s kind of like choosing a doctor, contractor, or a car mechanic. An honest relationship with clear communication is essential for everyone involved to achieve the best outcome for your financial future. I will listen to your needs and go at your pace to reach your goals. So, who am I? Well, I'm a just a construction worker offering sound Financial Advice. I grew up in construction and did manual labor --- I learned about hard work and the dirt and sweat that goes into building a beautiful and solid structure. I have that same mindset today. I work hard for my clients while building and structuring their nest egg. I understand how critical a strong foundation is for a dream home. It's the same when planning for retirement, or succession planning for a business, or Estate Planning. We start with a solid foundation and build from there. In recent years I’ve taken up Jeeping. It’s an interesting hobby. We take our Jeep out to a big pile of rocks, and climb over them. Most times the rock is bigger than the Jeep, and the climb seems straight up. But, I learned a lesson from my son, the first time I let him drive the Jeep. He was terrified! As I was guiding him through the obstacle, he kept saying “The Jeep knows what to do, the Jeep knows what to do.” I realized my life as a Financial Advisor, is very similar to talking my son over a great big rock. In the beginning, we partnered with Jeepers who had years of experience, we then added upgraded equipment to the Jeep. The experienced Jeepers can show us the best line to use while climbing the rock, so we aren’t in any danger. The upgraded equipment gives the Jeep stability and strength, should any unforeseen obstacle pop up. And guess what, with all that experience and equipment, the Jeep truly does know what to do. Sometimes planning for retirement, or figuring out how to sell the family farm, or prepare for succession in business, can seem as daunting as looking to drive over a house sized rock. But guess what, I’ve got almost 30 years experience, and I know what equipment you need to accomplish your financial goals. “Keith knows what to do, Keith knows what to do.”Investment advisory services offered through Brookstone Wealth Advisors, LLC (BWA), a registered investment advisor and an affiliate of Brookstone Capital Management, LLC. PresidentLuparius Asset Management & Brokerage Jan 2015 - PresentThe reality is, that since I started with Northwestern Mutual, through the moves, and name changes or job titles, my role has been pretty much the same. I'm just a regular guy, who can talk about retirement and investments, in an easy to understand way. I help business owners, professionals, and normal folks set up and plan for retirement. I guess growing up working in construction, in a small farming community, I can relate to those folks too. Especially when it comes to land development, and the most tax advantaged way to sell those developed properties, or dividing up and selling the family farm for development. But after the Smart Money Solutions name disappointment, I always wanted to have a new business name. Something cool, that was unique and personal. Lynn has Albanian ancestors. One day we started playing around with Google Translate. We were just goofing around putting in words, to see how they translated into other languages. (Admit it, you've done it too) Somehow, with the play on words, Lamb (that's my last name) and Wolf, Google spit out Luparius. It means wolf hunter in the Albanian language. What better name could we have for our business! A Lamb, that hunts Wolves. Watch how this works:LupariusAssetManagement &BrokerageYou don't see my name, unless you read the first letter of each word vertically. Use the play on words Lamb/Wolf (In Albanian) Add a Shephard's Staff as a logo, and bam! I now have my cool and unique business name. The name is here to stay, it's even the name for my website, but in retrospect no one in America knows how to spell Luparius, so I do end up spelling it out several times a day...website, email...they all have Luparius in them.

OwnerLamb Financial (Smart Money Solutions) Jan 2005 - Jan 2015It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....I read that somewhere. Life with John at ING was incredible. We worked well together, even though there was 30 years difference in our ages. We were growing our practice, and discussing bringing on additional staff, and agents to help out. Lynn did come on to help manage the office, and even though she was incredible, and was invaluable to our growth, I didn't pay her anything. She already had control of my entire paycheck anyway. In the middle of contract negotiations between ING and the school districts, John passed away. It was a devastating blow to our growing practice. Negotiations settled, by ING agreeing to a lower fee, which cut my pay. It was time to move on. Lynn and I rented a small office building, hired an assistant, and hung out a shingle. I was self employed. We decided a great name for our little business would be Smart Money Solutions. We had cards and stationary made, with our cool new logo and name. We were ready to do business. My attorney, who we rented the office space from, came into my office one day with some "bad news". As an attorney, he was concerned our name Smart Money Solutions was too close to SMART Money Magazine, and highly recommended a change. With the wind let out of our sails, we simple called our little enterprise Lamb Financial, and went to work. In retrospect, I really don't think a National Financial Publication, would even know of, or care about the name of a little family practice in El Paso, TX. Even though we loved El Paso, and had great friends there, with a thriving Financial Services practice, something needed to change. In 2011 we decided to move back to Utah. I regularly travel back to El Paso to meet with my clients there. We keep saying we'll live in Texas again....

Investment AdvisorIng Financial Services Jul 2000 - Jan 2005On April 15, 2000 I was sitting outside my kids' school, waiting to pick them up. I was casually talking to another dad, when he suddenly burst out "Dang! I need to fund my IRA today". I informed him, I could take care of that for him. He then began to tell me about his Financial Advisor, who had managed all his retirement accounts. In the course of the conversation, he revealed his Advisor was suffering some health issues, and was thinking of retiring, if only he could find someone to take over his practice and service his clients. I immediately shared my interest, in at least meeting his Advisor and learning about his book of business. Turned out, his Advisor John, and I got along incredibly well. He had a contract through ING for all the 403b retirement accounts in the school systems in El Paso, as well as with UTEP. This was an incredible opportunity. By July of 2000, the buy out agreement was in place, and I moved from Northwestern Mutual to ING and became the retirement specialist for school teachers and Professors in El Paso. -
Insurance Sales ManagerNorthwestern Mutual Nov 1998 - Jul 2000Milwaukee, Wi, UsBecause of my success in Ogden as an Agent, as well as my experience as an Assistant Manager, I was offered the position of District Manager with Northwestern Mutual in El Paso, TX. Lynn and I discussed it, and made the move. The first few months were difficult. I was still responsible for a certain level of personal sales, but was also, the sole recruiter and trainer. We were in love with El Paso. We were always told "Its the smallest big city in America". That meant, and we soon learned it to be true, that even though it was a big city, it still had a small, home town feel. The nicest people you'll ever meet live in El Paso. -
Insurance AgentNorthwestern Mutual Aug 1995 - Nov 1998Milwaukee, Wi, UsAfter completing a very successful and rewarding internship with Northwestern Mutual, I signed on as a full time agent. I had began working in Ogden the last few months of my internship, building up a clientele. Northwestern decide to open an office there, so I moved my family and began working full time. Very quickly I was asked to be the assistant manager of that office. I was still doing personal production, but was gaining experience in recruiting and training new agents. This proved valuable for what came next. -
Insurance AgentNorthwestern Mutual Jun 1992 - Aug 1995Milwaukee, Wi, UsAfter my dreams of being an NFL star linebacker crashed and burned, I came up with a fail proof plan to be a strength and conditioning coach for an NFL team. I started to study Physical Therapy at USU. About halfway through my first quarter, my 6 year old brother in law fell and needed stitches. I rushed him to the hospital. It was a weekend, so the doctor on staff was a young guy, doing his residency. As he was stitching up my brother in laws head, he asked what I was studying in school. I told him Physical Therapy. He said, "Let me guess, you want to be on staff for some NFL team". As it turns out, several of his Frat brothers had the exact same plan as mine, and none of them were working in the NFL. Seems without some kind of connection, no NFL teams were hiring. All of his associates were working for actual Physical Therapists offices, and were the newbies, getting all the undesirable cases, and all unhappy at work.USU offered a free Occupation Evaluation, so I took advantage. The outcome didn't say I should be an Insurance Agent, or even in the Financial Services. It recommended I be a Funeral Home Director. I took this information and began to look into that career. I decided to change my major to Business Administration. Some time later, there was a job fair in the Student Union, for Business Majors. I attended. I ran into a nice lady, who began telling me about a paid internship, that would also provide college credits. That was Northwestern Mutual. I quit my job building couches, took the insurance exam, and became a College Agent for Northwestern Mutual. I had a great experience with my internship. I changed my major to Finance, focusing on stock market and investment theories. I learned I wasn't afraid to talk to strangers, and I enjoyed helping people with their path to a comfortable retirement. By the end of my internship, I was the number 6 intern in the nation for Life Insurance sales. -
UpholstererLay Z Boy Furniture Galleries Sep 1989 - Jun 1992Learning how to upholster furniture is painful experience. At one time I had shot my thumb so times with the staple gun, I didn't think it would ever heal. It wasn't a glamorous job, but it paid well. From the skills I learned while working there, I've been able to reupholster furniture Lynn found for our home. I worked the swing shift, from 4pm to Midnight, and then went to school during the day. -
Construction WorkerArnold Lamb Construction 1979 - 1987When I was 10 or 12 my dad started a construction company. Being the oldest child, I was the cheapest labor...free. I first learned how to operate a shovel, then eventually graduated to backhoe and bull dozer. We dug up a lot of dirt making big holes. Some where for pipelines, some for house foundations, and a lot septic systems. Eventually we became the exclusive slag removal company for Nucor Steel in Plymouth. As part of the slag removal, I operated large front end loaders and off-road dump trucks...all before even turning 16 and getting my drivers license. I worked part time during the school year, and full time all summer. In the summer of 1986, I believe, I had the opportunity to work with a company my dad was partnering with. The job was in Orem, Utah with Geneva Steel. My job was grinding and repairing ingot molds to prepare them for further operation. I lived in BYU housing during the week, and drove home on the weekends. The partnership fell apart when the Union Steel workers went on strike and Geneva stopped production.

Gas Station CashierLamb'S Service 1972 - 1978When I was about 5 years old, I started working in my Grandpa's Service Station. The first few years my responsibilities were limited to restocking the candy bar shelves and pop machines. I also remember sweeping the floors...A LOT of sweeping. During those years, my pay was in candy bars and Pepsi. Occasionally I was sent into the basement to retrieve a set of keys, or other items which had fallen through the vents in the floor. I was allowed to keep any coins I found while down there. Eventually, I was big enough to carry a plastic milk carton, so I was promoted to gas pump attendant. I would start the gas for customers, then stand on my milk carton and wash their windshield. I would also check their oil and tire air pressure. Sometimes I'd get a nickel for a tip. Later I became the flat tire repairman, and oil change specialist. Back then I-15 was just a 2 lane road through town. Lamb's Service was much more personal than today's large truck stops. We met some wonderful people...including a few famous ones. Maybe this one sparked my interest in motorcycles. (See picture. If you can't read it, it says "To Keith, Happy Landings. Evil Knievel)One summer my Grandpa purchased a motorcycle for me, as a bonus. I assume I worked hard enough to deserve the bonus, but after getting a brand new motorcycle, my work attendance declined. There were just so many country roads to explore. Plus, I was like 9 years old.
