Nurse Clinician for VCU Health’s Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant adult and pediatric inpatient unit. 21-bed progressive care oncology unit serving patients receiving cell therapies and hem/onc patient populations. Responsible for maintaining communication, team member competency, and unit education for the staff of N10. Core responsibilities included orientation and onboarding of all new unit nursing staff, professional development of current nursing team members, and development and implementation of required annual unit competencies. Gave critical feedback to unit bedside RNs regarding practice and required unit certifications. Provided mentorship to new nurse residents as resident facilitator.In collaboration with other unit leaders, primarily responsible for unit quality measures, including CLABSI, CAUTI, HAPI, falls, and other key performance indicators--including nursing certification, BSN, and retention rates. Collaborated with the unit manager and other unit leaders to ensure quality of nursing care and unit safety. Reviewed and followed up on safety event reports, performing drill-downs when necessary on practice concerns or safety events on the unit.In partnership with divisional unit leaders, served as nurse manager on call in rotating schedule. Responsibilities included allocation of staff across the division, coordination of off-unit chemotherapies, and staff support spanning a 24-hour time period.Served in two year tenure as co-chair of Oncology Professional Practice Committee, which provided connection among oncology nursing disciplines across the enterprise to share best practices and make collaborative decisions regarding oncology nursing practice and oncology policies at VCUHS.
