41 years of electrical wholesaling speaks volumes and I still love it. My goal was to reach the very top in my field and fully develop everyone's knowledge who works with, and for, me. Many of my former colleagues now have run branches, regions and even countries in their careers and I hope they enjoyed the time spent working with me. I still talk to most of them so looks like it. I am level headed and not a time-bomb waiting to detonate at a moments notice so they know they can speak to me on any subject and we come to a rational measured decision. For the first 30yrs or so I felt like I was in an apprenticeship but with every passing year my experience grows. I have taken my branch and staff to levels of service and professionalism not seen before in Rochester for the benefit of the customers and branch alike. With sustained customer satisfaction , sales, profit and high levels of supplier development I felt like we really achieved something. Maybe the apprenticeship is approaching my full degree qualification. I am well known for my letter writing ( which after 35 years is mainly emails now sadly ) and negotiating and persuasion skills which, even in the electronic age, is still needed. Total compliance or nothing me is the key....for there is no second best option to suppliers of services and products to me. I also enjoy the buzz of purchasing. I was handling an order pad of over £1.1million in 1985. June 2024 saw me start in the National Rexel FM team as Contract Manager looking after some prestigious accounts. Looking to add my "KT factor" to developing and growing these customers and helping , in some way, the staff that look after them.
