The single aim of the Children's Commissioner for Wales is to safeguard and promote the rights and welfare of children and young people in Wales. A Corporation Sole. As Commissioner I had to have regard to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in exercising my powers and functions. As the country's second Children's Commissioner, I published a number of reports including those on advocacy, child protection, child trafficking, young carers, children and young people with disabilities and looked after children. Strategic, operational, budget and development lead for Save the Children in Wales. Led the development of the Wales Programme including participation and child rights projects securing lasting change for children in line with Save UK priorities. Led on corporate planning cycle, monitoring and reviewing progress against objectives. Represented Save UK at UK and European platforms. Chaired the UNCRC Monitoring Group for Wales.

Member of NACRO Management Board. Based in London and Swansea. Responsible for 300 staff spread over 25 offices in England and Wales with an annual turnover of £8million. My Directorate provided operational service delivery and policy services in youth crime prevention, youth offending, community safety, young adult offenders, mental health services for offenders, restorative justice, resettlement advocacy and domestic violence services. Responsible for business development, liaison with UK Government Departments and Welsh Government. Responsible for NACRO policy committees including the Committee on Children and Crime chaired by Lord Alex Carlile QC. Responsible for NACRO's media profile in Wales and represented the organisation at national, regional and local conferences and events.

Strategic and operational responsibility for NACRO Cymru's services. Responsible for 25 staff with an annual turnover of £800K. Delivered youth justice and youth crime prevention policy and project services across Wales.
