Keith Vander Wees shares his life story in the memoir "Struggling To Be Well". As part of a desire for wellness he found that writing poetry, music, creating artwork and working on a memoir to be highly therapeutic. “I sincerely hope that my work will inspire others and show that if someone like me with a major mental illness can achieve a degree of success anything is possible. For me, finally staying out of a psychiatric hospital since 1993 after five years of being in and out with nine admissions in total (the longest continuous stay was 9 months) was a huge success”. In 2011 his instrumental song “Funky O” was featured on Dancing With The Stars Australia and in 2012 he released a New Age instrumental album titled “Mission of Peace”, available in digital format on various platforms. Vander Wees’ artwork displays have included a nine month juried exhibition at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, a four painting permanent “Letting the light in” installation in the lobby of Casablanca an apartment building in downtown Toronto, and "Sunset Immortal" a sunset/ clouds photo in National Geographic Breathtaking Cloudy Skies. Hailing from Thunder Bay, Ontario he currently resides in Toronto.
