Spredfast offers a social marketing platform that empowers brands to involve their audiences with relevant and engaging experiences to build meaningful relationships.I joined the founding team of 7 engineers and grew the team to 120+ over the course of ~4 years while institutionalizing an agile delivery model across a federation of loosely coupled teams optimized for parallel deployment.The Spredfast SAAS marketing platform enables marketers to create and moderate conversations across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Blogs, Sina Weibo and many other socially relevant platforms. Moderation is achieved through the real time processing of 100s of millions of social network items into TB-level NoSQL data stores including Casandra and Elastic. The real time ingest of data includes machine learning inspired data enrichment facilities and automated data classification to enable sophisticated team-level routing across the enterprise. The platform also includes a massively scalable ETL architecture for generating real time and aggregated social analytics. The multi-tenant application, hosted on 400+ servers within Amazon's AWS cloud, supports 10s of thousands of active users with market relevant web-based browsers, IOS and Android mobile devices. The application architecture provides facilities for organizational partitioning and rights management, and integrates into prevalent security frameworks such as SAML. The platform also includes a scalable workflow engine to manage content, real time and scheduled messages, and moderation workflows.

StoredIQ delivers an enterprise platform that allows major corporations to manage their ediscovery and compliance driven data retention requirements. The product is delivered via a highly scalable distributed turnkey appliance platform that allows major corporations to manage large scale (PB+) unstructured enterprise data. I joined the founding team of 6 engineers and grew the team to 50+ over the course of 4 years. During this time I institutionalized an agile delivery framework that promoted innovation, product delivery velocity while maintaining the quality required by a legal and compliance driven marketplace.The product included out of the box network protocol connectors for CIFS and NFS files servers, Document Management Systems (SharePoint, Documentum), WebDav, eMail Servers (Exchange, Notes), etc. with a highly scalable and configurable ingest capacity. A proprietary federated Lucene/Postgres engine enabled enterprise wide, geographically distributed real time search, and machine learning inspired data enrichment and data classification. For classified data, automated policies could be configured to “act” on data at scale. The supported policy engine actions include massively scalable copy, move, security modification, delete, and compliant data retention with market leading retention storage offerings from EMC, NetAPP, Symantec and IBM.We received 4 patents for this platform in the areas of data management and data classification. StoredIQ customers included State Farm, Citadel Hedge Fund, Fulbright and Jaworski, and British Petroleum.

Mshow.com is a SAAS platform designed to facilitate large-scale (1000+ users) virtual meetings and events. I joined the founding team of 7 engineers and grew the team to 60+ over a 5-year span. The platform consisted of a multi-tenant clustered web application with a patented real time presentation synchronization platform. The synchronization platform was comprised of a “just ahead of time” caching architecture, audio and video synchronization facilities that embrace telephony bridge and net-based streaming (audio and video) integration. The platform also included a proprietary communication infrastructure that synthesizes continuous content distribution over standard, short lived and size limited http connections constrained by the planet’s proxy and firewall fabric.

The Ambac Financial Group out of New York financed and created this new startup. I joined the founding team to develop and scale a business to government ecommerce platform designed to disinter-mediate relatively expensive state and local government procurement processes. The SAAS platform consisted of locale specific shopping catalogs that consolidated regional procurement purchasing power and automated procurement and aggregate purchase tracking. The team started with 6 engineers and grew to 20+.

I joined a founding team consisting of xEDS colleagues and 10+ engineers in pursuit of a new ecommerce internet-based software distribution model. We created a “try before you buy” software distribution platform that enabled software publishers to allow consumers to download and use software products prior to purchase. We also developed a patented device locking technology that ensured single device installation and integrated credit card payment capabilities. Customers included Microsoft, McAfee and Corel.

I spent the first 2 years leading a team of 15 high-end engineers in the delivery of a market leading (MOM) Message Oriented Middleware Product – “Distribution Services”. The platform provided application development frameworks, service discovery facilities and run time message routing features (available on 10+ operating systems across 5 network protocols) that enabled SOA development in heterogeneous enterprise environments.I was then promoted to Director of Product Technical Architecture for the entire Foundation Software Organization tasked with opening up and scaling our enterprise CASE tool offering. During the next few years, our team of ~20 senior software architects, rolled out a number of lightweight lower end products, substantially opened up the platform to support alternative design repositories and diagramming tools, and supported evolving distributed architectures such as CORBA, DCE-RPC and DCOM.Customers included All State, Credit Agricole, Florida Power, Caterpillar, and Goldman Sachs.

Led a team of 5 engineers creating a Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) architecture within Southwestern Bell’s 5 state computing ecosystem. The platform supported 15+ operating systems across 4 network protocols and included service discovery facilities, canonical presentation layer encoding and network level gateway routing capabilities.

After finishing first in EDS’ Engineering Development Program, I went on to architect and deliver a variety of state of the art data communications software products while leading teams averaging in size from 5 to 10. The software products included: a CCITT complaint OSI communication protocol stack, a remote real time PC control product, X.25 based synchronous dialing stacks, asynch and X.25-based dealer communications management products, and an extended operating system memory management offering.Customers included General Motors and their supporting dealership community.
