THREE things about me:LEADERSHIPI’m a Team Leader. I was elected as the Executive Committee of Studies (Food Service Management) in my faculty during my university days. As the EXCO for Food Service Management, I'm representing every person in my course to voice out their opinions as well as suggestions to the board and the faculty. In dining events organised by my class, I would be asked to take charge of either the FOH (Front of the House) or BOH (Back of The House). Even though I always lead, I can also be a follower as well.INITIATIVEI always take initiative to learn more about something rather than waiting for people to teach me as I have the drive to learn new stuff. I like to consult people with related experience or knowledge to share with me their knowledge on a particular subject; for instance, during my last internship in Famous Treasure Chinese restaurant in Singapore, I have little knowledge on alcoholic beverages such as wines and whisky, I would read books on wines and ask my beverage manager to teach or share with me his knowledge as he is a sommelier during the break time before the next shift starts. I even took an exam on wine knowledge and obtained a WSET Level 1 in Wines certification before my internship ended.FLEXIBLE/ADAPTABLEI’m a person who adapts easily to new environments. From my past experience, I’ve not experienced difficulty in adapting into a new workplace as I’ve done several jobs before. Being a banana people ( someone who's Chinese but does not know how to read and write Mandarin), doing my internship in a Chinese restaurant was definitely not an easy task as the ordering system was in Mandarin, so I memorised similar mandarin characters to every dishes and was able to key in order on my own. Besides, even when I’m asked to do something out of my job scope, I will not decline nor complain; instead, I will do it as I get to learn something new. I was asked by my boss if I could handle the administrative tasks of the restaurant during my internship in Famous Treasure. I agreed to my boss and I complete the administrative work during my break time before the next shift starts.
