Summer internship with Break Away supporting the Alternative Breaks Citizenship Schools (ABCs), a series of national conferences for alternative breaks program leaders.Key Accomplishments:-Facilitated trainings for undergraduate students and higher education professionals who run alternative breaks programs on topics including active citizenship, sustainable fundraising and community impact. -Assisted staff with logistics, curriculum development, and event planning for four national conferences across the United States focused on four separate themes including Refugee Resettlement (Atlanta, GA), Urban Access to Green Spaces (Grand Rapids, MI), Ecosystems in our National Lands (Grand Canyon), and Education Reform (Memphis, TN).

Researcher for undergraduate research study on direct support professionals.Key Accomplishments:-Designed qualitative research study on direct support professionals' perspectives on their support needs and perceptions on their roles.-Created a survey instrument in collaboration with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP)and interviewed 24 direct support professionals regionally.-Served as a Service Learning Scholar and presented research as part of Undergraduate Research Symposium.-Successfully defended thesis and working towards publication of research results in an academic journal.

Peer Mentor for scholars program focused on disability and diversity.Key Accomplishments:-Collaborated with a faculty member in the development of the new scholars program that would serve students in multiple disciplines interested in the concept of disability as it relates to broader human diversity.-Designed peer-mentoring roles and served as a peer mentor for 54 scholars.-Served as a teaching assistant for an introductory disability studies course that aimed to reframe how students were approaching disability, focusing on the calling cry of the disability rights movement 'Nothing About Us Without Us.'-Planned educational and social events for the scholars, including a panel of disabled students and faculty at the University and Discussion Tables about Mental Health in Higher Education.- Held individual meetings each semester for the scholars in order to help them connect with opportunities that exist on campus.-Developed recruitment and marketing materials, a program logic model, and assisted with program evaluation.
