I cover a wide array of news in the Fort Dodge and northwest Iowa region, including local government, education and general news. I specialize in courts and crime and since 2021, I have covered dozens of court hearings and eight murder trials. Over the last four years, I have also added more responsibilities and duties, including managing The Messenger’s social media, designing the Webster City Daily Freeman-Journal three nights a week and filling in for The Messenger’s page designers when they are on vacation.

Fort Hood, Tx

As sports editor, I wrote, edited and photographed for the sports section of a weekly newspaper, the only authorized newspaper on Fort Hood. I cover a wide variety of sports and athletics on the military installation, including rugby, varsity soccer and basketball, fitness classes and roller derby, as well as covering Texas high school football every week in the fall. In addition to covering local sports, I also wrote and shot an array of general news and features, as well as copy edit all sections of the newspaper.

Wilmington, North Carolina Area

From May 2015-August 2015, I was a photojournalism intern for the StarNews in Wilmington, NC. There I worked with other photo staffers, reporters and on my own to produce daily news, sports and features assignments. I produced still photography content for the StarNews' daily print product, as well as online multimedia galleries and videos.

Ames, Ia

Through working at the Iowa State Daily, I have had the opportunity to photograph breaking news when a police chase ended in shots fired on central campus, features on Boston Marathon runners, several Cyclone sports and more. I had the opportunity to photograph the ISU men's basketball team winning back-to-back Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships in 2014 and 2015. My work has also been printed in the Des Moines Register.

Upon transferring to Iowa State University in January 2013, I began working at the Iowa State Daily as a photojournalist. A few months later, I was asked to apply for the position of assistant photo editor for the following school year. I spent the 2013-2014 school year as an assistant photo editor and May 2014-May 2015 as the photo editor.
