On March 1, 2011, Kellam opened the doors to an entirely new kind of law firm, Mainsail Lawyers. Mainsail Lawyers is comprised of our Managing Member and a growing and geographically expansive network of similarly focused partner-level lawyers who serve as “Of Counsel” or who are otherwise available through relationships with independent law firms to assist us with matters upon specific engagement. Combined, we aim to offer the depth of practice area specific experience and geographic reach typically found only in the largest of law firms, without losing the many benefits of local boutique and regional law firms. Innovators in the practice of law, we are open to value-based billing and use the latest proven technologies. By building Mainsail Lawyers from the ground up on a foundation of best practices, we are committed to eliminating inefficiency and to maximizing value in the provision of focused-effort Client services. Put simply, by changing the way lawyers join together to provide legal services, we hope to serve clients better. Kellam's legal practice continues to focus on intellectual property litigation, labor and employment law, and commercial litigation. However, since founding Mainsail Lawyers, Kellam has expanded the scope of his practice upon client request to include representation in a wide range of general business law matters, including drafting, reviewing or negotiating commercial contracts, and serving as outside general counsel.Kellam is licensed to practice law in Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama, Eastern and Western Districts of Tennessee, the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, the Northern District of Illinois, the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and the Northern District of Texas.Specialties: As a lawyer, I'm permitted only to list my practice areas, which include: Labor and Employment Law, Trade Secret & Non-Compete Counseling and Litigation; Commercial Litigation, and Business Transactions.
