I oversee and manage the daily operations with our top corporate account, Caterpillar. Communication in my role is critical as I am the main liaison between our biggest customer and Daily Express, and I am constantly engaged in problem solving with the unique challenges that can arise in heavy haul transportation. This position allows me to collaborate daily with various departments within my company in order to improve our processes in billing, operations, and data management. My role also includes auditing, data analysis, and cost study analyses.

As a Management Trainee, I spent time learning about all areas of our business in specialized trucking while working directly in terminal operations. Terminal operations included driver recruitment, customer service, project management, terminal level accounting, and safety/risk management. Along with my training, I was extensively involved in CAT metric updates utilizing a transportation management system on a daily basis, and I was also the permit specialist for the Baltimore Terminal. I spent a great deal of time routing permitted loads, ordering state and city permits, booking oversize load escorts, managing superload projects, and developing relationships with the state permitting departments.

As a store team member, my duties range from customer service, food preparation, and general store maintenance and cleanliness. I am responsible for being efficient on register, Trendar, close-outs and end-of-day paperwork, maintaining overall cleanliness of the store by stocking, fronting and facing shelves, and mopping the floors. I also prepare made-to-order food, maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, and aid in waste management by keeping up with food par sheets and waste reduction methods.

As the operations intern for Shipley Stores, I acquired extensive knowledge on convenience store, hotel, restaurant and QSR operations, assisted with routine site inspections, monitored inventory and proposed solutions for waste management, implemented communication logs and charts to standardize store procedures and improve store communication, prepared several reports using Microsoft Excel, assisted with increasing job recruitment opportunities, and managed my own projects by creating agendas, setting project timelines, adapting to change and reporting the results to my supervisors.

I started out as a concessions attendant during my first season and was promoted to manager during my last season. As concessions manager, I trained, managed, and organized duties for concessions employees and made sure that food preparation and sanitation adhered to state food and health regulations. I also handled inventory management and purchasing while working closely with numerous suppliers. This job helped me develop management and leadership skills within a fast-paced and service-oriented environment.
