As an audio fanatic, it has been my mission to understand the precise inner workings of the audio realm. Tinkering with tube amps as a teen, my pursuit of electrical engineering began in earnest after completing my associate's degree in engineering and securing a technician role at Cary Audio. It was here that I was given the environment to learn and study high-end audio circuits and amplifiers in a lab setting. At Cary Audio, I learned the importance of attention to detail and fine craftsmanship, as many of our products are hand-wired in-house. I also worked on our current product line, finding solutions to common problems as well as improving wiring layouts. My work on the Cary product line lead to a dramatic increase in signal-to-noise ratio in several products, in one case, going from a typical ratio of 85dB to 100+dB. In the Hi-Fi audio realm, this is a big deal, as our customer's are often very particular and will go to great lengths to find flaws in our products.Additionally, Cary has given me a platform to create prototype products according to set specifications. After discussions of needing a hybrid amplifier in our product line, I developed a prototype amp that featured a fully balanced tube amp pre-amplifier with a Class D power amp stage. This prototype featured an auto-mute warmup period, automatic mains voltage sensing which allowed 120V-240V operation without need for manual switching, and excellent frequency response and noise cancellation. After several years of experience working with these systems, I decided to solidify my career in EE by finishing my bachelor's degree at North Carolina State University where I am currently a senior in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program.Audio circuits are a common entry-point for many enthusiasts and hobbyists and with enough study can teach the fundamentals of any analog design. My goal is to find a position that can incorporate my love and enthusiasm for precision analog circuitry and hands-on lab work.
