Engineer Iii - Automotive Fuel System Reliability Test & Group Lead
Raymond, Oh
Group core responsibilities are confirming fuel tank, filler pipe, pump components and in-vehicle performance• Explain, demonstrate, and remedy problems for the group’s 16 test procedures for 2 associates and 2 technicians• Assign projects to 2 associates and support workflow management with 2 technicians• Created simple, visual yearlong schedule via MS Excel to manage group resources and up to 7 project test plans• Utilized group’s schedule by negotiating for improved test vehicle delivery dates to minimize test overlapo Only group of four in department to manage project overlap to minimize resource back log – Fall ‘14• Organized and lead offsite vehicle performance testing at Automotive Enviro Testing, Baudette, MN, Jan’15o Snow build up characteristic testing for fuel canisters – 5 projects completed in 5 days.• Support supplier product validation for fuel tank fire resistance at Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio, TXo Assemble vehicle bodies that imitate actual vehicles to reduce cost and report results – completed 5 projects• Conduct and counter-measure group’s 16 component and complete vehicle tests for fuel system o Vehicle/fuel temperature confirmation, refueling characteristic, pump pickup effectiveness, fuel system pressure relief, cabin seal performance, tank band strength, fuel tank and cabin noise level evaluation, and system acceleration data collection during drivingo Counter-measure activities involve building mock-up parts from existing parts by welding and epoxy in addition to designing rapid prototype partso First to incorporate rapid prototyping for complete fuel tanks to begin early design testing – NSX project• Tested and developed new to Honda twin tank system for NSX project• Industry contact and project support to Ohio State University Senior Capstone project to develop a data acquisition system to collect volume vs height
