CurrentInpatient Laboratory• Verify correct patient identification before and after venipuncture (MRN, DOB, Complete Name)• Follow proper donning and removal of PPE in unique precaution rooms• Observe and comply with special patient instructions by the bedside (Fistulas, PICC lines, IV lines)• Venipunctures and Skin punctures in Order of Draw via Butterfly, Vacutainer, Syringe, Lanceto Newborn Screening, Blood Cultures, Timed Specimen, Blood Alcohol, QuantiFERON TB-Plus Assay• Preparation of the patient and infection control, including post puncture care• Special Specimen Handling and Transportation Requirementso Place the specimen on ice, warm pack, protect from light with aluminum foil, prechilled tubes• Documentation of time and name of the notified nurse in the EHR system if the patient refused blood draw• Deliver specimens to Specimen Processing Lab within 1 hour for Routine and Immediately for STATOutpatient Laboratory• Verify correct patient identification before and after venipuncture (MRN, DOB, Complete Name)• Venipunctures and Skin punctures from patients of varying ages, weights, health, and obesity statuso Blood Cultures, Timed Specimen, Glucose Tolerance Test, Blood Alcohol, QuantiFERON TB-Plus Assay• Collection of Random Urine Specimen• Comply with patient restrictions (fistulas, PICC lines, and IV lines)• Preparation of the patient and infection control, including post puncture care.• Proper processing of blood containers after collection, including centrifugationo Place the specimen on ice, warm pack, protect from light, prechilled tubeso Correctly using alternative specimen tubes when low in stock• Accessing patient health for adverse reactions (syncope, falling, nausea/dizziness, convulsions)o Calling Codes ASSIST, attentive to patients always• Deliver specimens to Specimen Processing Lab within 1 hour from the initial draw time
