• Identified, trained, and developed a diverse base of young leaders and activists across the country to run local, state, and national campaigns for reproductive justice.• After 9 months at Choice USA I was promoted from Midwest Field Coordinator to National Field Coordinator. While at Choice USA, I increased the size of our field program from 2 member organizations to 35 members and worked with campus organizers to collect the names of over 3,000 new supporters for our national campaign.

• Organized around legislative policies that support access to quality, comprehensive reproductive healthcare.• Led a grassroots organizing effort that provided the foundation for passing legislation in Iowa to expand Medicaid coverage for family planning services to residents up to 300% of the poverty line whose insurance did not offer such services and, for the first time, men.• Successfully garnered grassroots support and eventually defeated anti-choice Nebraska legislation requiring mental health screenings for women seeking abortions.

• Conducted research on the ways that poor women’s social networks helped them to mitigate the socio-economic challenges presented by the storm, particularly in the recovery processes.• Interviewed Hurricane Katrina survivors in Columbia, MO, New Orleans, LA, Baton Rouge, LA and Houston, TX, analyzed data, collected empirical research on institutional infrastructure that deterred the recovery process of individuals after the storm, and prepared abstracts that detailed the research conclusions. • Submitted findings for publication in the January 2012 academic journal entitled The Women of Katrina.

• Organized and mobilized the youth vote (18-25 year old) effort in the middle region of the state, spanning 9 college campuses.• Succeeded in registering more than 30% of young people attending colleges across my region, including over 1100 students registered in the final day of voter registration. • Turned out thousands of people across the state for targeted events culminating in mobilizing over 40,000 people to attend an appearance by Barack Obama at the University of Missouri, the largest campus in the state.
