Senior Media Relations Manager
Current-Oversees media inquiries to the department and supervises a team of press assistants to respond to media inquiries and interview requests.-Instructs and works with division staff and leadership on developing press releases, media advisories, public notices, newsletter content, and official governor proclamations for distribution to local, state and national media for one of the largest state government agencies in North Carolina.-Coordinates press conferences, events, tours, interviews, and media availabilities for subject matter experts and leadership teams.-Prepares integrated communications plans for department priorities that include various tactics, including social media, print, and web with content and scripts for different platforms and media.-Provides general communications support for various programs in the department.-Completes managerial and administration tasks for the team I oversee, including delegation of works, tracking metrics, quality assurance, approval of time request and individual employee evaluations.-Tracks analytics and metrics for reporting monthly communications activities for the whole office.-Interviews candidates to Office of Communications job postings and trains new employees to the Office of Communications.-Oversees care, use, and maintenance of the state vehicle assigned to the Office of Communications. -Turns complex health care, public health, and regulatory policy into easy-to-understand messages.-Edits public-facing documents, including press releases, media advisories, public notices, newsletter content, official governor proclamations publications, brochures, presentations, and journal articles developed by subject matter experts.-Establishes and maintains working relationships with representatives of the press, legislature and the public at large.
