To assist patients in pre-registering or registering when they come in for routine testing, for day surgery procedures or for admission into the hospital. To ensure the contact and insurance information for each patient is entered correctly in the computer system. To speed up the admission process by keeping admission charts made up ahead of schedule. Keeping copiers and fax machines fully operational. Registering patients in surrounding nursing facilities for labwork so testing could be done in the facility and speciments could be brought in. Screened patients without insurance to see if they qualified for any assistance or the hospital charity program to help with medical bills they acquired in the hospital.

Ordering and obtaining physician requested bloodwork and other specimens for testing. Being available to assist ER physicians during an emergency or trauma in obtaining blood for critical lab testing for diagnosis or blood typing for transfusions. Distributing lab specimens to the appropriate departments for testing. Faxing or calling any STAT labwork results directly to physicians to ensure urgent medical treatment is given to the patient.
