As a seasoned educator, I have just recently found my love for teaching elementary age students. I began my teaching career in 2005 in the junior high realm; spending 4 years educating myself how to effectively teach the teenage brain. It wasn't an easy task, and I cannot say I came even close to being an expert in teaching teenagers, but I can say my heart found its home in teaching. I began my teaching career in 2005 in the junior high realm; spending 4 years educating myself how to effectively teach the teenage brain. It wasn't an easy task, and I cannot say I came even close to being an expert in teaching teenagers, but I can say my heart found its home in teaching. I currently teach English, Language Arts, Reading and Writing at Travis Elementary. I have always felt a true calling for education, and have now found my true passion to teach the younger generation to love learning how to communicate effectively through reading and writing workshops. I recently discovered the philosophy of teaching reading and writing workshop effectively through the Abydos training based on the book, The Acts of Teaching by Joyce Armstrong Carroll and Edward E. Wilson. This training has changed my life as an educator and has inspired me to continue to try to motivate children in the "real world" classroom. I am very much a Christian and profess my faith openly. I realize my passion and calling to teach is driven by my hope to spread his love, faith, hope,and trust through my love for teaching.
