Creativity is pretty key to who I am. Often people assume that if you're creative, that's all you are, but that's not actually true. Creativity requires high levels of strategy - especially when you're working with little to no budget, a limited number of team members and limited on time. That's really when your abilities show. Within the team that I oversee, we've created hundreds of videos, scripts, conversation guides, hands-on activities and so much more for kids, age 2 years to 6th grade. Our content strives to be age-appropriate, developmentally appropriate and content appropriate.We live in a world where parents often wonder what sort of message the animated entertainment on their screen will share - so, we strive the "fill the gap" and ensure that what we make is safe, fun and educational so families can feel confident about watching what we create.

People crave authenticity. There's almost no better way to capture authenticity then hearing someone share their story.Their story might be one of pain, loss, trauma, but it could also be one of joy, hope or unexpected success. Either way, humanity is drawn to the stories that we share and we are enthralled by the human experience.My job was to sit with individuals, couples, families and in that space, I listened and captured their stories. We laughed and cried together as we connected as strangers but left as friends. Once I captured their story, it was my responsibility to write a creative motif of words and phrases that painted a picture of the lives they lived so that others would be impacted and drawn to share their own story. This written story would be posted on a public website along with professional photos (done during a photo session that I recruited for and art directed).From this season, I learned a really important thing - that everyone has a story. Keep that in mind as you interact with others. Extend grace and love well.

During this time, I was responsible for the programming, coordinating and producing of weekly events for hundreds of college-aged students. And boy, was it a ride.These events included recruiting and scheduling volunteers, scheduling individuals responsible for production such as music and media. I was part of a team of people that wrote and produced videos such as trailers and series bumpers - one that featured thematic, stockholm-style imagery. I oversaw large teams of people who created practical set and prop pieces - like a massive "Zombie Run" that included turned-over furniture, a smoke machine and the expert zombie makeup of various volunteers and actors. I also wrote scripts and elements of content for these events - including a full fashion runway featuring a photoshoot, a live performer and montage video.I oversaw 90's-style pog and game night, various dance parties, catering, open mic nights, original rap scores, talk show-style giveaway and so much more. It sounds like so much packed into one year, and it was...but it was such a great year.

Think of Pam Beesly from the office except I sat next to a huge goldfish.This role included daily phone calls from multiple lines, messages, scheduling and receiving in-person visitors. I was the first face our guests saw, so it was my job to make sure I greeted them with warmth and safety. Many of the visitors we received may have been in crisis situations, so it was important that I knew how to graciously care for people and also know who to call in for back up.I also oversaw the management and filing of different types of paperwork including, but not limited to, payroll, insurance forms, non-profit forms and more. And yes, I made lots of copies.

As a self-employed and licensed event coordinator, I oversaw the inner-workings of large events such as weddings and parties. I was responsible for marketing and promoting my business, conducting phone calls and correspondence with clients, provided expertise and knowledge about vendors, financial budgeting and decorations. I also was responsible for creating and managing business invoices including but not limited to services such as day-of coordinating, full coordinating, invitation design, photography and the management of a non-profit.

I started as a barista and within six months, I was a supervisor. It happened like whiplash. Before I knew it, I was responsible for my co-workers (both their schedules, their well-being and their experience on the job because I wanted them to LOVE what they did). I also oversaw midnight store turnovers for large events such as holidays (which was one of my favorite things to do) and frequently placed orders for high amounts of inventory as well as received these orders. These were some of the greatest years of my life.
