- qPCR and NGS assay research and development using novel molecular technologies - Hire, manage, and train research technicians

-Investigate and implement new molecular techniques and technologies for both clinical and research settings-TaqMan qPCR genotyping assay optimization and process validation-Process setup and validation for Array based PGx genotyping assay.

-Oversee Workflow within the NGS Team, Ensuring that all NGS samples are on track work is completed with high quality and in a timely manner.-Troubleshooting of issues and assisting with process optimization, including reviewing results, collection data, and generating reports.-Training of team members, new hires, and interns.-taking point on special projects as assigned, including project management and optimizations for existing and new pipelines.-Collaborating and maintaining good communication within the NGS team to ensure smooth departmental operation

• High-throughput human mtDNA PCR, SPRI bead purification, and quantification using Biomek liquid handlers• Library preparation and Next-Gen sequencing using Labycte liquid handler and Miseq sequencer• Troubleshoot and optimize sample preparation and sequencing techniques• Validate and create standard operating procedures for mtDNA sample processing and library preparation• Sample auditing and management using LIMS

• High-throughput human DNA extraction, purification, and PCR/qPCR using Tecan and QIAgen robots• Multiplex STR processing and analysis using capillary electrophoresis on ABI 3130xl

• Bacterial/Archaeal DNA extraction, purification, and quantification• PCR/qPCR optimization and troubleshooting• Library preparation and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) using whole metagenomes and amplicons on MiSeq• Create SOPs for the standardization of sample collection and processing• Operate and maintain HPLC department and report on analyzed data• Operate IRMS and accessory equipment for isotope/elemental composition analysis• Solid, liquid and gas sample preparation for stable isotope analysis• Comply and enforce Company and government HSE regulations• Maintain general laboratory equipment and manage supply of consumables• Instruct students and less-experienced staff in laboratory best practices and procedures

• Examine deviations from government regulations and internal operating procedures• Review raw-data from laboratory inventory management system (LIMS) and department logs to identify, review, and catalog errors• Maintain error logs and generate company-wide statistics therefrom• Investigate and draft incident reports concerning laboratory and staff errors
