As a Co-Director for the 2024 Harvard Summit for Young Leaders in China, I managed a team of six junior directors and nine staff members to spearhead the first in-person iteration of the conference in four years.

As a Junior Director for the Harvard Summit for Youth Leaders in China, I assist in directing a Harvard-centered international conference to spread liberal arts education to students in China, connecting 100+ Harvard undergraduates and 50+ industry professionals with 1500+ Chinese high school students each year. Within this conference, I also co-lead a conference capstone committee that aims to enhance and develop students’ critical research and writing skills with novel online programming.

As the Harvard Badminton Club's Vice President, I communicate with key stakeholders in the Harvard’s Club Sports office to secure funding for club events and training equipment for over 100 athletes across all playing levels. I also oversee emails and organize tournaments and competitions with badminton teams in Massachusetts and am in charge of organizing logistics for our competitive team, who competes in the Collegiate Divisional Playoffs each year.

I work with Stanley Gill, a PhD candidate in biological sciences, who is studying the role of a nucleic acid binding protein called TDP-43 in ALS-related neurodegeneration using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). To expand on his project, I am using iPSC lines derived from female and male ALS patients harboring similar genetic modifications to examine if the biological effects and mechanisms of TDP-43 and ALR are sex specific based on the difference in symptom presentation between genders. I am also conducting experiments that research the effects of genetic perturbations of TDP-43 in a cellular context that is not in motor neurons or related to ALS.

At the Engert lab, I work with Gregor Schuhknecht, a post-doc using anatomical and electrophysiological analyses to relate the structure and function of the neuronal circuits in the hindbrain of a larval zebrafish. I am working on the reconstruction portion of the project, which entails mapping neural synaptic connections in a zebrafish hindbrain using electron microscopy images in order to study the structure and properties of neuron communication in the short-term memory circuit.

PBHA's Cambridge Youth Enrichment Program serves over 160 low-income students located in Cambridge and works to provide students with a platform to pursue their passions and curiosities through academic and cultural enrichment. As a senior counselor, I implemented a self-designed academic curriculum, supervised students on classroom field trips, and guided students through community service projects around the city in CYEP's first hybrid year.

Blue Ivy Learning's mission was to provide students with a foundation to continue exploring their academic interests during the pandemic and an era of online classes to maintain and encourage high morale for learning. As an instructor for Blue Ivy Learning, I self-designed the curriculum for public speaking and SAT/ACT preparation courses.

I organized the first charity badminton event in Illinois with over 210 total athletes competing with five different events. From choosing a venue and contacting sponsors to assembling trophies and organizing over 100 matches, I learned how to step up as a leader, manage a complex process, and galvanize a group of people for a larger cause. I also learned how to problem solve and be adaptable on the day of the tournament when delays and unforeseen issues arose. I ended up raising and donating over $8,800, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital over the span of three years to support cancer research and families in need.
