Kellie Rivera serves as Senior Counsel and Vice President of Corporate Affairs at The Cannabist Company Holdings, Inc. fka Columbia Care, one of the largest and most experienced cultivators, manufacturers, and providers of cannabis products and related services in the United States.In her role at The Cannabist Company, Kellie leads the company’s legal, compliance, and licensing efforts in existing and emerging east coast markets. She also focuses on regulatory policy, market design, improvements to medical cannabis programs, and the crafting of successful and equitable adult-use markets. She regularly engages with government agencies, policymakers, industry associations, and lobbyists. Additionally, Kellie manages relationships with state and local cannabis regulators to serve as a subject matter expert on comparative, emerging markets and to ensure operational compliance. Kellie maintains functional knowledge of current and proposed laws, regulations, and policies impacting The Cannabist Company’s operations, while proactively identifying potential impacts and legal risks. She provides creative, solution-oriented advice to senior leadership to inform operations and strategic decision-making. Kellie services on the Board of Directors at the International Cannabis Bar Association, is Vice-Chair of the New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association, and is an active member in New York Stare Bar Association's Cannabis Law Section. Kellie is personally passionate about the therapeutic potential of medical cannabis due to her own experience as a chronic pain patient following a childhood spinal injury.
